Remember the days when your kids would give you one of their handmade gifts from items such as Popsicle sticks and how that became your pride and joy?  Do you remember when you were a kid and your mom gleamed with pride at your handmade gift?  Well, now you can re-live those magical gift giving moments at Burchetta’s Glass Blowing Studio. Not only will you make a priceless memory, but glass blowing and creating a one of a kind piece of useful artwork was so much fun!  Located in the Town of Carmel overlooking beautiful Lake Gleneida is the artistic wonderland of Burchetta’s Glass Blowing.  I drove by the sign many times and was curious but never stopped in.  However, my curiosity got the best of me when I saw Burchetta’s advertisement on their website to create a special gift for mother’s day. I could not longer procrastinate, I had to go and give it a try.

I attended the  ”Create Your Mom A Special Gift” open house at Burchetta’s.  What an amazing place.  John Burchetta and his friendly and helpful staff took me step by step in creating a special gift for my mom.  I had no idea what I wanted to make and there were endless possibilities.  After touring the amazing gallery of John’s work I decided on a vase, which would be both beautiful and practical.

Together we picked out the shape, the colors and the size.  John’s team explained what all the tools were for and gave me a chance to test them out and be comfortable holding them in my hand… then off we went to make a vase.  Blowing glass is a beautiful and elegant art skill.  John manipulate the heated glass while I shaped it with old-fashioned wooded tools and blew hard to the pipe as my vase took shape.  John’s team encouraged me the whole way and showed me how to put my own unique style on the brim of  the vase.   The incristic value of whole expereince was worth way more the $75 fee. 

Don’t worry if you feel that you might have missed out…  you can make something special for Dad.  Burchetta is having another open house for Father’s Day, June 7 and 8, 2008.   You should really give it a try, it’s a reasonable price, it was fun and most importantly, you create something special from the heart that is priceless.  Can’t make it June 7 or 8 - no worries… Call Burchetta’s at 845-225-1430 and they would be happy to help you set up another time to create your “masterpiece”.
