Let the Inspections Begin

| May 27, 2008

readyforaction.jpgThe Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department was looking good on Saturday, May 26, 2008 for their annual inspection and judging at the new Engine #1 building on Route 6 and Croton Falls Road . Every inch of the rescue vehicles were shined and polished gleaming in the sun.  Every hose, helmet, gadget and various pieces of rescue equipment were triple checked and in its proper place ready for action.  Standing proud next to the vehicles were the brave men and women who risk their lives for us ready for the judges.

Not only do the volunteers unselfishly and without compensation drop what they are doing to answer a call for help, but they also spend hundreds of hours checking and maintaining the equipment every day.  Every time a truck comes back from a call, it is inspected and the gas tank refilled if it is under 1/2 tank.

The next time Engine #1 has an open house, stop by and meet the volunteers who give all of their heart and soul into saving our lives, homes and businesses.  Go up to the second floor and into the new center tower and be amazed by all the beautiful trophies our Volunteer Fire Department has won over the years.
