Weekend Event Guide (Aug 1 & 2)
On Saturday, join lecture hosts Dr. Johnson and Michael Robinson for an entertaining and educational look at how the Revolutionary War played out in our area. Dr. Johnson, an avid Revolutionary War re-enactor, will lecture in period attire, and discuss the encampments at West Point and Constitution Island; the North and South Redoubts in Garrison; and the Fishkill Supply Depot and Encampment, located under the mostly-abandoned Dutchess Mall on Route 9, just north of Cold Spring.
Saturday night, enjoy a performance of the Philipstown Depot Theatre’s presentation of “A Chorus Line”. Or, how about dinner and live music at Four Brothers Restaurant in Mahopac as it presents, An American Music Festival featuring a 4-Course Sit-Down Dinner and music from ‘The Singing Sax’. Also on Saturday night, the Doansburg Chamber Ensemble will be performing their trio of piano, flute and cello at St Mary-in-the-Highlands.
Arts on the Lake in Kent, NY is hosting a very special event this Saturday, August 1st at 8pm.
On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the original Woodstock Music & Art Fair: An Aquarian Exposition, filmmaker Michael Richards, along with members of the original festival crew, will be present for conversation following the showing of his new documentary film, Birth of a Generation: The Creation of the Woodstock Music Festival
On Sunday, Arts on the Lake welcomes all to its “Midsummer Madness” acting class workshop. The Cold Spring Area Chamber of Commerce Sunset Concert Series presents pop/folk singers Andy Stack and Dar Williams for your listening pleasure at the bandstand in Cold Spring.
