glynwoodcenter.jpgOn the second Friday of the each month during the growing and harvest seasons Glynwood Farm opens to the public for FREE tours (Reservations required).

Dates of the Free Tours:  August 14•September 11•October 9, from 3:00pm  –  4:30pm.

Glynwood farms on its own land, about 150 acres, and another 100 acres on land owned by nearby neighbors?  The rock-strewn hillsides on which Glynwood Farm is situated make it best suited for skylineglywood.jpgpasturing livestock for meat production, augmented by garden vegetables.  Glynwood Farm is devoted to testing, innovating, and demonstrating techniques that support the economic viability of environmentally sustainable farming. All of this contributes to Glynwood’s larger mission of helping communities save farming in the Northeast.

On the second Friday of each month during our growing and harvest seasons, a member of the Glynwood staff will give a tour of our farm and gardens.  During the 60 to 90 minute tour, you will learn about the nutrient dense crop program we are implementing in the garden, our energy saving initiatives, and how we have had success using goats to graze down the invasive species where mechanized mowing is impossible.

Meet ther pasture-raised heritage breed cattle and see their hen operations.  And ask their seasoned staff about  sustainable farming practices, composting and how it can be applied to your blackcowsglynwood.jpghome garden.  Also learn about the work that Glynwood does in communities and on a regional level to support sustainable agriculture.

Please note that there is good bit of walking on the tour and space is limited.  To make a reservation, please contact Anita Barber via email abarber@glynwood.org  or by phone 845-265-3338.

Glynwood is located at 1 Glynwood Rd, Cold Spring, NY 10516, off Route 301. Signage is small and easy to miss. If you are traveling west on 301 from the Taconic, our entrance is on your right – if you hit Route 9, you have passed us! If you are traveling east on 301 from Cold Spring look for our sign on the left; if you arrive at the entrance to Fahnestock State Park, you have gone too far!

glynwoodsign.jpgAfter entering the site, please proceed slowly up the driveway for two miles, past the red barn and small farmhouses. Follow signs for office and parking. Call 845-265-3338 if you have questions.
