Building Bridges – A Rock Party

| September 15, 2009 | 0 Comments

rock_pilesHere is an opportunity every kid has dreamed of…..being able to throw rocks on purpose. The Friends of Fahnestock and Hudson Highlands State Parks rock crew have to collect and stock pile rocks. The fun begins as the rock can be placed or throw into the gabion baskets. Kids as young as 8 or 9 are welcome to come. Naturally this will need supervision so that no one gets hurt.

If there are any high school students who wish to have community service credit, they would be happy to sign off that they helped.  Most kids will only be willing or able to spend 1-2 hours helping and the crew asks that an adult accompany any child on the work trip and is responsible for him or her.   In addition to helping your community and getting to throw rocks, there will be lemonade and brownies to enjoy.

Please contact Jane Daniels at jdhiker@optonline.net or via phone at 914-245-1250 and let her know whether you will be able to help and what time you will be able to come.  Work trip dates are Saturday September 19, 26 or October 3, 2009. They work rain or shine. Last Saturday looked as if it would be a rainy day, but it was not and lots was done. Feel free to pass this information along. We would love to have a group come out to help.

Hope to see you on site.
