The North County Trail
The North County Trailway is a great place to relax, unwind, or get a great outdoor workout. The beauty and serenity of the bike bath is not to be missed. Whether you go alone, with friends or family or even with your leashed dog, the trail can be enjoyed by everyone.
We are very fortunate to have the bike path going though our communities. You can go for long stretches on the bike with only the sounds of the birds in the trees to keep you company. Many sections are so quite you can hear various forest creatures scampering through the leaves. I’ve seen deer, rabbits, turtles, chipmunks, an occasional frog and small snake on the bike path.
Bike riding is not only fun and great exercise, but it gives you the opportunity to spend quality time together outdoors. It is very exciting to see the extension to Brewster being constructed in Carmel. The bike path is full of local history as it was once the old train line New York City commuters use to take to get away from the summer heat and enjoy nature and all of Putnam’s beautiful lakes and scenery.
Every mile spent on the trail is filled with beauty. Need to take a break? There are plenty of benches to stop along the way and sit back and relax or have a picnic. What’s so great about the trail is that you can go for miles and miles or for short bouts and it’s all FREE.
