Holiday Boutique at the Desmond-Fish Library
This year’s Holiday Boutique at the Desmond-Fish Library promises to be better than ever featuring even more Hudson Valley artists and three weekends of holiday shopping. The grand opening of the Boutique is on Saturday, Nov. 28 from 10 to 4 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 29th from 1 to 5 p.m. with free hot cider and cookies. The Boutique continues this year from Dec. 3 through Dec. 6, and Dec. 10 through Dec. 13 during library hours.
The Boutique includes jewelry, quilts, pottery, toys, fresh pine wreaths, glassware and notecards all handmade by Hudson Valley Artisans. New vendors this year include Little House of Miniatures which creates dollhouses and miniatures and Hudson Valley Primitives which features birdhouses and dolls. Another new vendor creates children’s felted clothes out of recycled sweaters.
Perennial favorites include Connie Sherman’s unique pottery, Margaret Lent’s sumptuous hand woven scarves and jewelry by Betty Stafford and Karen Ferencz. This year the artists are featured on the Boutique’s web site at http://dfl.highlands.com/boutique/
The boutique features a range of prices from one of a kind quilts to handmade tree ornaments starting at $1. Many gifts are ecologically minded like John Sheehan’s art prints on cigar boxes,eco-market bags from Emily Pataki and fabric gift bags instead of paper wrapping.
