Weekend Event Guide (Jan 9 & 10)
Don’t let the arctic freeze stop you from participating in all the cool, fun stuff Putnam and surrounding areas have to offer. There is plenty to do both inside and out.
On Saturday, the Cornell University Cooperative Extension’s Youth Development program is offering an introduction to GPS & Geocaching at the Clearpool Education Center. This is an exciting way to explore our world using science and technology. Geocaching is a high-tech treasure hunt played throughout the world by adventure seekers. The basic idea is to use GPS to locate outdoor hidden containers, called geocaches, and then share your experiences online.
Did you know that macaroni and cheese was a popular meal in Medival Times? Well, you are in for a treat this Saturday at 5pm asthe Gilead Presbyterain Church in Carmel hosts a Medival Banquet featuring meat pies, mac and cheese, period veggies, magical songs and skits performed by costumed players.
On Sunday, come join me at the Taconic Outdoor Education Center for their annual Winterfest. Learn snowshoeing, take a nature walk, create crafts, and there will also be a live animal presentation.
After the Winterfest, how about coming over to the Mahopac Fire House on Route 6 and Croton Falls Road for the Freezin for a Reason Tailgate Party? I’ll be there conducting interviews from about 1:30 – 2:30, but the event is 12 – 3pm – so stop by anytime.
