Winterfest Highlights

| January 15, 2010 | 0 Comments

The Winterfest at the Taconic Outdoor Education Center in Cold Spring was amazing.  The annual festival was held on Sunday, January 10, 2010 under blue skies and chilly temperatures.

Although it was cold, there wasn’t any breeze, so it was actually very nice outside.  Hundreds came to enjoy ice skating, snow-shoeing, ice fishing, broom ball on the ice, sled riding, indoor crafts, bonfires, hot and delicious food in the lodge, and so much more.I highly recommend attending next year’s Winterfest. But if you’re like me, and don’t want to wait an entire year to go back, then please come on over the next events at the Taconic Outdoor Education Center.  On Sunday, March 14, 2010 get ready for more fun at the  ”Maple Sunday Pancake Breakfast.”  This event is a Sugar Maple Celebration featuring a pancake breakfast in the lodge with fresh maple syrup.  There will be a hands-on demonstration of tapping trees, boiling sap and producing syrup.

Then Save the Date for the Taconic Outdoor Education Center’s big summer event… ”The Mt Laurel Outdoor Rec Fest” on Sunday, May 16, 2010.  Unplug your family and participate in the National Get Outdoors Day.  Learn about canoes, orienteering, outdoor skills, adventure challenges, birding and nature.

Check out the Videos and Pictures from the Winterfest… I’m sure you’ll want to go next year!
