Watering lawns and gardens can account for as much as forty per cent of summertime water use, and divert potable water to the yard. Save money by watering with rainwater. And save the tap water for drinking!

As summer drought and neighborhood water restrictions kick in, you can take advantage of rainwater runoff to irrigate your garden. Rain barrels are a great, mosquito-proof way to capture water from your gutters and take a load off your home well or water supply.

Participants in this one hour workshop will build their own fifty gallon rain barrel, complete with spigot, overflow, and mosquito screening. Master Gardener Volunteers will be on hand to help.
