LocalPutnam.com is a non-political, all positive, events and activities resource for Putnam County, Southern Dutchess and Northern Westchester, New York. Our mission is to promote the beauty of our area, and its people, and to provide residents and visitors with the most comprehensive and detailed calendar of activities in the area.
LocalPutnam.com was created in March of 2008 out of a personal need to answer the question, “What is going on in Putnam County?” Conor Whelan and Christine Torino, the founders of the site, were frustrated searching many web sites and spending a lot of time looking for events and activities for their families. As they began doing research and discovering all of the numerous free or low cost events, activities, hiking trails, historic sites and places of interest that Putnam had to offer, they thought that it would be great to share this information with the community on one website.
LocalPutnam.com, which started out as an idea to help the community, has blossomed into a valued resource. We are proud that we have the most comprehensive, user-friendly calendar of events and activities in Putnam County. Our expanding staff continues to work hard to improve the site using the latest technology including video highlights of events, and interesting interviews with local people.

Who We Are:
Christine Torino- Co-founder, Editor, Reporter, Photographer & Videographer. Christine is a 2008 Magna Cum Laude graduate of SUNY Purchase with a BA in Media and Communications. She also holds a national certification as a personal trainer, and has been a Putnam County resident since 1989.
Conor Whelan – Co-founder, Web Designer & Internet Marketer. Conor is also the Founder and President of Whelan Technologies, LLC, a Mahopac-Carmel Chamber of Commerce member, and a resident of Putnam County since 1994. Whelan Technologies is a ‘Full Service’ website development and online marketing company. Whelan Technologies offers cost effective solutions for businesses that want to market and promote themselves successfully online.
