Carmel: Learn to Fish - 4-H Fishing Clinic
Fishing is a great sport to share with family, friends or even on a solo outing. On Saturday June 2nd there will be an opportunity to learn more about it at the annual 4-H Fishing Clinic available to 100 Putnam County youth ages 8 to 14. With 7500 lakes, 50,000 miles of rivers and stream and hundreds of miles of coastline (www.dec.ny.gov), fishing in New York can be a life-long avocation.
This free event will take place, rain or shine from 10 am to 3 pm at the Putnam County Veterans Memorial Park, Gipsy Trail Road, Carmel. All participants will receive a free rod, reel, tackle kit, 2012 fishing directory and hat. Check in begins promptly at 10 am and pre-registration is required.
The 'Learn to Fish Program' is sponsored by Cornell Cooperative Extension, and the Oasis Sportsmen's Club with support from the Jack Stewart Jr. Memorial Fund. Please note: Participants need not be a member of 4-H, a parent/guardian must remain with the youth during the event, and only first time registrants are eligible. To register or for more information, please go to www.cce.cornell.edu/putnam or call 845-278-6738.
