LocalPutnam.com is a non-political, all positive, events and activities resource for Putnam County, Westchester County, Dutchess County, Connecticut and the Bronx New York. Our mission is to promote the beauty of our area, and its people, and to provide residents and visitors with the most comprehensive and detailed calendar of activities in the area.
Starting out as www.LocalPutnam.com in March of 2008 out of a personal need to answer the question, “What is going on in Putnam County?” Conor Whelan, the founder of the site, was frustrated searching web sites and local publications. Spending a lot of time looking for events and activities for a single dad to do with his sons. There was no ‘central’ site or publication that had everything in one place. Then, teaming up with Christine Torino, a single mom, in 2008, they jointly began doing research and discovering all of the numerous fun, free or low cost events, activities, hiking trails, historic sites and places of interest that Putnam had to offer. They thought that it would be great to share this information with the community on one website.
Christine spent many hours and miles driving the length and breath of Putnam county shooting video and connecting with local businesses, organizations and community leaders in the county to get the word out about LocaPutnam.com. Christine became the face of LocalPutnam.com while Conor is more behind the scenes and the brains behind the marketing and technology. He does come out now and then to say hi. He is the camera man behind some of the video shoots with Christine.
www.LocalPutnam.com, which started out as an idea to help the community, has blossomed into a valued resource. We have now expanded into Westchester with www.LocalWestchesterNY.com to continue our goal to provide a central resource for families searching for FREE and low cost things to do in Westchester and the surrounding counties. We are proud that we have the most comprehensive, user-friendly calendar of events and activities in Putnam County. Our expanding staff continues to work hard to improve the site using the latest technology including video highlights of events, and interesting interviews with local people.

Who We Are:
Christine Torino - Editor, Reporter, Photographer & Videographer. Christine is a 2008 Magna Cum Laude graduate of SUNY Purchase with a BA in Media and Communications. She also holds a national certification as a personal trainer, and has been a Putnam County resident since 1989.
Conor Whelan - Web Designer & Internet Marketer, Assoc Editor, Conor is also the Founder and owner of Whelan Technologies, LLC, a Carmel Mahopac Chamber of Commerce member, and a resident of Putnam County since 1994. Whelan Technologies is a one-stop shop internet marketing provider. SEO, Social Media, web design, web hosting, shopping carts, niche marketing, Facebook and Twitter marketing are his specialties. Whelan Technologies offers cost effective solutions for businesses that want to market and promote themselves successfully online.
